What is SBI Clerk (Junior Associate)?
SBI Clerk, officially called Junior Associate (Customer Support & Sales), is one of the most popular banking exams in India. Every year, the State Bank of India recruits thousands of clerks to serve as the front-line bank staff — handling account operations, passbooks, cash counters, and customer queries.
With over 10,000 vacancies in recent notification cycles and an in-hand salary of ₹26,000–₹29,000 in metro cities (rising significantly with experience), it's a highly attractive first government job.
Eligibility

Exam Pattern
- Preliminary Exam: 100 questions, 100 marks, 1 hour. Three sections: English Language (30Q), Numerical Ability (35Q), Reasoning Ability (35Q). Sectional timing applies.
- Main Exam: 190 questions, 200 marks, 2h 40min. Sections: General/Financial Awareness (50Q), English (40Q), Quantitative Aptitude (50Q), Reasoning & Computer Aptitude (50Q).
- Local Language Test: Qualifying nature — tests knowledge of state language.

- Numerical Ability: For Prelims, focus on Simplification, Number Series, and basic arithmetic. For Mains, add Data Interpretation (bar charts, pie charts) — this is where most marks come from.
- General/Financial Awareness: Read banking awareness (RBI functions, types of accounts, financial terms) + last 4 months of current affairs

Career Growth After SBI Clerk
